What kind of insurance will I need?

Your new home is an investment and like any investment, you want to protect it. Insurance is a vital component in your home buying process. Not only will you want to carry insurance, but your lender will want you to as well. Knowing what coverage to include can be tricky, but we can help.

• Title Insurance
  Title insurance is insurance you pay as a one-time fee at closing. This insurance protects the lender in the event that the conveyance of title to the property comes into question. The coverage includes both the mortgage amount and sale price of the home.
• Homeowner’s Insurance
  Homeowner's insurance provides fire, theft, and liability coverage for the home. Most lenders require that one year’s worth of coverage be in place at the time of closing and that insurance be in place for the life of the loan.
• Flood Insurance
  You may need to get special flood insurance if the home is located in a designated flood zone. Your lender will let you know if coverage is required.
